POLICE EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT WITH MISA ZAMBIA 'S STATEMENT

Lusaka 4th August,2016  We are disappointed by the by the sentiments by MISA stating that we as Zambia Police Service we are moving at a snail's pace to prosecute matters relating to harassment of Journalists.

To begin with the matter involving Elijah Mumba, the legal provisions requires that when someone has been issued with a police medical form  he/she must have it signed at a government hospital.

Today as at 15:53 hours twenty-four hours have elapsed from the time when we issued the medical form to Elijah and as police we are waiting for him at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Police station where he reported the matter and not as Chainda Police Post.

Weather this is moving at a snail's pace on us as police we leave it for the public to judge.

Time and again we have encouraged victims of crime to report as this is the only sure way of prosecution against offenders.

Our offices are public offices which can be accessed and as such it's prudent that we engage each other constructively especially at a time like this one.

We shall not as Zambia Police Service resolve complaints against criminal cases through the press.
