UN COMMENDS ZAMBIA FOR TAKING UP THE FAST –TRACK APPROACH









United Nations in Zambia has commended Zambia for taking up the fast –track approach very seriously, putting the 90-90-90 targets at the core of its national HIV strategic documents.


WHO Country representative on behalf of the United Nations Dr Custodia Mandlhate says situation analysis done in Africa region by WHO has shown that from 2005 to 2015 there has been an increase in diagnosed people living with HIV, from only 10% in 2005 to 15 % in 2015.


Dr Mandlhate has also disclosed that a study done in 30 countries of the region as part of the monitoring for the MDGs has shown that in 2001 through voluntary testing there were less than 20% tested.


Dr Mandlhate notes that the 2016 WHO guidelines on self-testing and assisted partner recommendation were issued and produced and some HIV self- testing and partners notification were done.

Dr Mandlhate adds that there was an increase frequency of HIV testing among men.
