Government has proposed to spend one hundred and eighty billion kwacha in 2024.
Minister of Finance and national planning Situmbeko Musokotwane has stressed that the government has made progress in stabilizing the economy.
Speaking during his Budget address to Parliament, Dr Musokotwane said the progress has been attributed to the semantic objectives that government is currently implementing to improve the country’s economy.
He said economic transformation and job creation among others are some of the strategies the government is using to improve the living standards of its people.
Dr. Musokotwane says the 2024 national budget is aimed at promoting economic growth through enhanced private sector investment, increased productivity and production and improved service delivery.
The budget is themed unlocking economic potential.
He also announced that the government is coming up with measures to reach an understanding with millers to reduce mealie meal prices.
And Dr. Musokotwane had announced that the food reserve agency will releasing maize stocks for the community to purchase so that citizens have a choice of milling their maize through cheaper methods.
Meanwhile a total of 5400 personnel will be employed in the education sector while 4,000 personnel will be employed in the health sector.
