Minister of Education Douglas Siakalima has urged Zambians to emulate the culture and ethics of the Chinese people which has helped them to develop to be the second largest global economy.
Speaking during the ZACOSA business
forum, Mr. Siakalima has commended the Chinese government for helping in
constructing Tanzania Zambia Railways (TAZARA.
He explained that the work ethics of
the Chinese people should be emulated by all developing countries to reach
where China has reached economically.
He further revealed that it was the
same reason why his ministry is trying to inculcate better work ethics in
children at Early Childhood level were the focus is to mentor children in their
infancy stage.
Mr. Siakalima said that good morals
like being obedient, always remaining focused are some of the packaging that
has made them reach were they are.
He said that ethical conduct and work
ethics is what they did before they thought of developing their country.
Meanwhile, Chinese Chamber of Commerce
in Zambia (CCCZ) president Mr. Li Tie said that there is need to build linkages
between them and students in order to grow the friendship and relationships
between the two countries.
Mr. Tie revealed that they are keen on
working with the Zambian government so that Chinese and Zambian businesses can
be promoted together.
He disclosed that they have
established the spirit of being law abiding and honest and hopes bilateral
trade will enhance corporation between the two countries.
Mr. Tie stated that his wish for the
conference was to be a platform for Zambia and Chinese students to mingle and
exchange ideas.
He reminded that since its
establishment, Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia has helped in promoting
various Chinese businesses in the country.
And Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Mr. Du Xiao Hui has observed that over the past few years, ZACOSA has provided quality services for Zambian students studying in China.
Mr. Hui stated that he has helped
students to find jobs in Zambia and also organised various cultural exchange
programmes.
Further, Zambia China Old Students
Association (ZACOSA) president Mr. Kingsley Ilunga Kalusha stated that the
forum is poised to take its rightful ownership and position as a bridge between
the people of the Republic of Zambia and that of People’s Republic of China.
Mr. Kalusha added that ZACOSA is
offering a wide range of services to these diverse communities, which stand to
promote co-operation as well as warm and friendly relations between the two
peoples.
He narrated that the aims of ZACOSA
are to; Promote socio-economic interactions and business development for
members, Foster Intellectual, high standard training, and skills development in
the various disciplines between various schools, institutes, directorates and
institutions within Zambia and between Zambia and China.
"It also contribute to positive
relations and cooperation between Zambia and China, act as a bridge for
cultural and friendship exchanges between Zambia and China, provide technical
and related services to Chinese businesses in their operations in Zambia. Be
available to advising the Government of Republic Zambia on Zambia-China
relations and policy as it is ZACOSA’s niche position to add value to the
Socio-economic ecosystem of the Zambia China Relations," he stated.
Mr. Kalusha revealed that the
corporation helps foster intellectual, high standard training, and skills
development in the various disciplines between various schools, institutes,
directorates and institutions within Zambia and between Zambia and China.
He added that it also contribute to
