The Agricultural and Commercial Cooperative Society of
Zambia Limited President Bernard Moonga has announced that this year’s show
will be officially opened by the President of Burundi, Èvariste Ndayishimiye on
Saturday 3rd August 2024.
Speaking
at the media briefing in Lusaka today,Dr Moonga said over one thousand
exhibitors are expected to showcase their products and services at this year’s
96 Agricultural and Commercial
Show in Lusaka.
Dr Moonga has also announced a budget exceeding K20 million for this
year’s 96th Agricultural and Commercial Show.
He highlighted that exhibitors from China, Bangladesh,
the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Burundi, Pakistan, among
others, are expected to participate.
Dr
Moonga stated that more space has been allocated to the promotion of smart
agriculture as the country continues to face negative effects of climate change.
Dr
Moonga further urged the show goers to observe the Ministry of Health
guidelines to avoid contracting influenza.
He
further assured the general public that the society has contracted eight
security companies and 450 police officers to ensure tight security during the
show and cautioned against leaving valuables unattended.
This year’s Agricultural
and Commercial Show is slated to run from Wednesday 31st July
to 5th August 2024 and will be commemorated under the
theme, “Creating a Competitive Future.”
