NO AMOUNT OF INTIMIDATION WILL SILENCE US-SAYS UNZA UNIONIZED WORKERS

Academic staff namely UNZARALU, UNZAPROSU and UNZAAWU at the University of Zambia have stated that no amount of intimidation tacticals will silence the UNZA unionized workers.

Speaking at the media briefing in Lusaka today, UNZAPROSU President Likezo Pumulo said the protest will continue until the government pays all the outstanding benefits in full.

Mr Pumulo K206 million kwacha that the government has released is not enough saying it is only going up to 2016.

"We appreciate that government has release K206 million as partial payment towards the K1.385 billion but it is not enough to address the current situation,"He said.

He has since urged the government to source around for more funds so as to clear their outstanding payments.

Government is owning the University of Zambia Union members K836 Million Terminal benefits, local superannuation at K617 million and K265 million NAPSA unremitted contributions: money deducted from their members' salaries plus the employer contributions that have never been remitted to NAPSA to enable the members to benefit from the NAPSA pension scheme.
