PETROLEUM -SECTOR PHASE TWO VERIFICATION EXERCISE TO KICK OF THIS MONTH

The Zambia Metrology Agency has commenced the second phase of nationwide verification exercise that kicks off this month .

H2 Verification is an exercise that is conducted bi-annually in the petroleum sector to ensure accuracy of all measuring instruments.

ZMA Director Legal Metrology, Dr Eng Michael Nsefu highlighted the importance of ensuring precision and accuracy in measurements and instruments in commercial transactions.

Dr. Eng . Nsefu, says accurate measurements play a critical role in all sectors of the economy such as mining, manufacturing, construction, and energy.

He says it is important to maintain accuracy and precision in measurements, especially in the petroleum sector, to guarantee the durability and reliability of products.

"This time of the year we are now in the energy sub-sector, petroleum, as you know petroleum products and how durable they are. So we move in to ensure there's accuracy of measurements." Dr. Nsefu stated.

"Our teams of engineers will be deployed across the country to ensure that every instrument used for dispensing fuel adheres to the highest standards of accuracy."

He says the agency collaborates closely with technician companies and oil marketing firms to conduct these verifications comphrensively .

Dr . Eng Nsefu says the collaborative effort does not only ensure economic integrity by preventing revenue losses due to inaccurate measurements but also enhances consumer trust.

“So our engineers are going to move in all the corners of this country wherever there are fuel products to ensure that that the instrument which is distributing there is accuracy and that we do it in collaboration with a technician company In conjunction with all oil marketing companies,” Dr Nsefu said.

He urged the public, especially motorists, to verify that fuel dispensers display valid certification from the agency.

This certification guarantees that the dispenser has undergone rigorous testing and meets all accuracy requirements set forth by regulatory standards.

For further inquiries or additional information regarding the agency's verification processes, individuals are encouraged to contact the Zambia Metrology Agency directly.
