ZDA Markets Tourism Investment Opportunities at 67th CAF





The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) says having the right tourism infrastructure is key to unlocking Zambia’s tourism sector thereby contribute to the vision of becoming a top tourist destination in Africa.

ZDA Director General, Albert Halwampa was speaking when he addressed delegates at theongoing United Nations Tourism Regional Commission for Africa in Livingstone on Tuesday 23rdJuly, 2024. 

Mr. Halwampa highlighted the numerous investment opportunities in the tourism sectors such as creation of convention centers, hotels, lodges, roads, airstrips and exhibition centers among others.

He implored investors to invest in the tourism sector so as to position Zambia as a competitive tourism investment destination.

Mr. Halwampa assured investors that their investments would be safe in Zambia as there is rule of law, political stability and consistent policy direction.

He further called on investors to partner with government through Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and private to private sector through joint venture partnerships between foreign and local investors. 

He noted that such collaborations will drive sustainable tourism development, create jobs and contribute to the overall economic growth of Zambia.

“ZDA facilitates both fiscal and non - fiscal incentives to investors including those investing in the tourism sector that investors can take advantage of,” he explained. 

“Some of the fiscal incentives include duty free importation of equipment, capital allowances and value added tax free supplies and non-fiscal incentives such as No VISA required 

for entry into Zambia for one hundred and thirteen (113) countries across the globe,” he added.

He reiterated ZDA’s commitment to handhold investors from inception right through to aftercare services for investors.

And speaking on a panel discussion Mr. Halwampa emphasized that Africa must brand to showcase its uniqueness to the rest of the World.

He noted that as the world increasingly turns its attention to Africa's untapped tourism potential, Zambia stands ready to showcase its unique attractions and investment opportunities, driving the continent’s tourism growth story forward.
