Speaking
in an interview, BRRA Executive Director Sharon Sichilongo disclosed that the Business
Regulatory Review Agency is working with different stakeholder institutions
regulators to ensure that they look at the regulations that pertain to specific
sector and see where the challenges are, and make recommendations in terms of
what needs to be done in order to reduce the costs that come with licensing in
some specific sectors.

interpreting the 2024 Agriculture and Commercial show ‘Creating a Competitive
Future” BRAA is looking at themselves as a very key institution with regard to
making sure that businesses in the different sectors are competitive and there
are implementing the programs that is aiming at knowing the cost of starting
and operating a business.
“In order
to ensure that that they minimize the costs and operating of business especially
for small businesses BRAA and as an agency, we have under our programs, what we
call Regulatory affairs programs where we ensure that one of the provisions of
the Act, which is to compel all regulators to conduct regulatory impact
assessments is adhered too’’Said Ms
Sichilongo
In order to fulfil its mandate, the Agency reviews and
approves proposed policies and laws that affect business activity to ensure
they are legitimate and serve the intended regulatory purpose as well as
coordinates development and implementation of appropriate
Government-to-Business interventions in order to reduce the regulatory burden
on business.
