Moved by the lack of local production of Sunscreen which is a lotion that people with albinism use to protect their skin, Mwape Chimpampa a Grade 10 pupil at Naboye Secondary school has developed her own organic Sunscreen.
Mwape showcased her Organic Sunscreen made out of a combination of vegetables, fruits, spices and Aloe vera among other ingredients during the National JETS Fair that ran from 12th to 16th August in Lusaka.
Patents And Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) selected 15 inventions for Patenting and awarded K2,000 to each of the innovators. Mwape was one of those innovators.
PACRA Deputy Registrar Intellectual Property Chewe Chilufya urged Mwape to ensure that she keeps her ingredients as a Trade Secret and register for Trademarks when commercializing her innovation.
