INDIAN GOVERNMENT DONATES 2,500 METRIC TONS OF MAIZE TOWARDS ZAMBIA’S DROUGHT RESPONSE

 






The government of India has donated 2,500 metric tons of maize towards Zambia’s drought response following the declaration of the 2023/2024 drought as a disaster earlier this year.

Vice President Mutale Nalumango, received the donation on behalf of the Zambian Government while Indian High Commissioner to Zambia,Mr. Ashok Kumar handed over the donation on behalf of his government.

Mrs Nalumango has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian government for the donation.

She says that the support was not only a humanitarian aid but also a testament to the enduring bond between Zambia and India.

Mrs. Nalumango has since directed the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit to ensure that the donated maize reaches the beneficiaries without delay.

And Indian High Commissioner to Zambia Ashok Kumar, says it is a privilege for his country to offer aid to the people of Zambia during times of need.

Mr. Kumar says the donation is a true symbol of global friendship and solidarity in times of climatic shocks.
