ZEIC raises concern over the holding of a referendum alongside the general elections

Council of Elders of the Zambia Elections Information Centre (ZEIC) has raised concern over the holding of a referendum alongside the general elections saying people still do not understand the Referendum, why it is coming and how they will participate in it.
ZEIC Chairperson Fr Leonard Chiti says the platforms created for citizens to express themselves on the issue have continued to show that there are still a lot of misunderstandings on what voting In the Referendum is all about.
Father Chiti adds that ZEIC regularly receives information from the public in a bid to help citizens understand the importance of the Referendum.
He further hopes that within the next few weeks, campaign messages will amplify the issues of the Referendum on the Bill of Rights to enable voters participate from an informed position
