Nyapachuma Memorial
Foundation
launched the anti-sextortion
programme on 6th April 2024 at the Kenneth Kaunda Wing of the Mulungushi
International Conference Centre in Lusaka.More
than 300 participants including students from various universities attended the
event.
And Nyapachuma Memorial Foundation Founder Emily Sikazwe challenged the student to raise the voice against sextortion which has been
described as a growing threat impacting mostly women.
Speaking during the launch of the Empowering
Women Against Sextortion workshop in Lusaka, Dr Sikazwe says despite it being
common, sextortion is barely discussed and raising the voice against it is
vital in fighting it.
Dr Sikazwe said the advancing justice against sextortion
requires action in building a more just and equitable society.
He said students must therefore give ideas on how best
sextortion can be addressed as it is also common in tertiary education
institutions.
Dr Sikazwe said efforts will be made to make sure that
sextortion in the society is addressed.
Dr Sikazwe said if the young people want to take the
sextortion Bill to Parliament Nyapachuma will support them saying the ball is
in the hands of the young people.
