NRFA COLLECT K1.5 BILLION FROM TOLLGATES AND DISBURSED FOR ROAD PROJECTS

 


The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) collected K1.5 billion from Toll Gates from January to May 2024 and is set to beat the 2024 priojected target of K2.2 billion.

Speaking at the ongoing Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola, NRFA Public Relations Manager Alphonsius Hamachiila said the revenue was disbursed for new and ongoing road projects and related activities.  

Mr. Hamachila said the NRFA processed a total number of 8.1 million vehicle passages with 1.1 million vehicle passages being processed under Frequent User Discounts and 102, 000 of the passages were processed under Local User Discounts.

He said the Agency collects tolls from 38 collection points which include 27 inland Toll Gates and 11 Ports of Entry. 

A total amount of 798 Million was collected from inland Toll Gates and 767 Million was collected from the Ports of Entry.

Mr. Hamachila said from foreign registered motor vehicles the Agency collected K223 Million.

The NRFA has been promoting the usage of electronic toll cards at its toll facilities across the country and K313 Million was collected using the cashless payment platform. 

He said the Agency was complimenting Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) driven road infrastructure development by leveraging on the National Road Tolling programme.
