*ZMA SCOOPS THIRD PLACE IN THE MOST E- TRANSFORMED AND INNOVATIVE PUBLIC INSTITUTION AT THE AFRICA PUBLIC SERVICE DAY*

 

The Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA) has scooped 3rd place finish in the most e- transformed and innovative Public Institution at the just ended Africa Public Service Day commemorations that was held at East Park Paiza.

The Republican Vice President Her Honour, Mrs W.K Mutale Nalumango on Sunday, 23 June 2024, awarded deserving Public Institutions in various categories with ZMA scooping 3rd best Public institution in the e- transformed and innovative Public Institution behind Workers Compensation Fund Control Board and National Prosecution Authority that finished in 1st and 2nd place, respectively.

ZMA Executive Director, Mr. Humphrey Nkobeni said the Agency is delighted to be recognized in the e-transformed and innovative category as a payoff for its ambitious digitalisation agenda aimed at automating all its internal and external processes through introduction of e-workflows and e-certification of services. 

He said the Agency is focussed at replacing paper-based issuance of calibration and verification certificates with e-certificates, enhancing efficiency and accessibility and reducing turnaround times for prompt measurement applications. 

"Within the first half of 2024, the impacts of this in house pioneered system have been so profound with the following benefits: Increased Convenience: Clients can now obtain calibration certifications online without the need for physical visits, saving time and effort.Enhanced Security: Digital certifications are more secure and less prone to tampering or loss compared to paper-based documents.Environmental Friendliness: The shift to digital certifications reduces paper usage, contributing to environmental sustainability.Cost Effectiveness: Reduced administrative and logistical costs lead to overall savings for both the institution and its clients.Faster Issuance: E-certifications are processed and issued much quicker than traditional methods, minimizing downtime for businesses waiting on these documents.Improved Accessibility for Remote Clients: Clients in remote or underserved areas can now access services without the need to travel long distances, promoting inclusivity and equal access to essential services,"He explained.

He added that the agency was able to contribute to the nation’s quality driven, digital agenda providing a platform for business growth, profitability and sustainability.
