Academic staff at the University of Zambia have vowed that they will not attend to students next week as the learners return at the country's highest learning institution.
This follows numerous appeals to the government to settle dues owed lectures, non academic staff as well as retirees at UNZA.
The affected staff who spoke through their UNZARALU President Andrew Phiri on behalf of all unions have also claimed that the government has subjected them to poverty for a long time, adding that they had enough and will not tolerate.
Professor Phiri said the three trade unions have resolved to seek audience with his Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema over their Emoluments since the ministry of Education has failed to deal with their matter.
Government is owning the University of Zambia Union members K836 Million Terminal benefits, local superannuation at K617 million and K265 million NAPSA unremitted contributions: money deducted from their members' salaries plus the employer contributions that have never been remitted to NAPSA to enable the members to benefit from the NAPSA pension scheme.
He noted that very few of their members have benefited from the 20% partial withdrawal due to the debt.
" It is important to note that very few of our members have benefited from the 20% partial withdrawal due to this debt" He said.
