Zambia Acting High Commission to south Africa urges Zambians traveling to and exiting south Africa to be compliant with the immigration procedures.

Zambia's Acting High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa, Ms. Inonge Mwenya, has urged Zambians traveling to and exiting South Africa to be in compliance with immigration procedures to avoid being in contravention of the law.

It has come to the Mission's attention that many Zambians are facing challenges entering or exiting South Africa due to a lack of proper immigration documents. This is inspite of the Mission endeavouring to consistently provide guidance on the requirements.

The Mission in Pretoria has also been in receipt of concerns from numerous travellers who are unable to present the required documentation upon exiting South Africa.

She expressed sadness that, despite efforts to assist Zambians, there are still cases where some individuals are found without the necessary documents, including work permits, while others have overstayed in South Africa due to varying reasons.

Furthermore, she stated that the Mission is cognisant that some individuals may be facing challenges in navigating the immigration landscape and stands ready to help those with genuine concerns. However, she urges everyone to adhere to the immigration regulations set forth by the South African Government and to uphold the values of integrity and responsibility.

She emphasized that following these regulations is not only a legal obligation but also a reflection of Zambia’s respect for the host country and its laws. Compliance with immigration rules helps to foster goodwill between the two countries.

This, in turn, ensures that Zambians can continue to live and work in South Africa without fear of legal repercussions.

“If you are facing difficulties or uncertainties, please seek assistance from official channels through the Mission in Pretoria for guidance and support.

“Let us work together to build a positive image of our community and contribute to the rich diversity that South Africa offers. By following immigration regulations, we not only protect ourselves but also honor our Zambian heritage and the values we hold dear,” Ms. Mwenya said.

She has urged all Zambians to stay informed about visa requirements, renewals, and any changes to immigration policies, and called on citizens traveling to South Africa, Lesotho, and Madagascar to follow the correct procedures.
